Eurasian Design
A Eurasian industrial design registration allows applicants to protect the appearance of products across Eurasian Patent Convention member states through a single filing with the EAPO. Design protection may extend to the following countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
An industrial design protects the visual features of a product, including shape, configuration, pattern, and ornamentation, provided the design is new and has individual character. Protection does not cover technical or functional features of a product.
The application must include clear visual representations of the design, an indication of the product, and applicant information. Multiple designs may be included in one application if they belong to the same class under the Locarno Classification.
Registration is generally completed within 6 to 12 months. The initial term of protection is 5 years from the filing date and may be renewed in 5-year increments, up to a maximum of 25 years, with renewal maintained only in the selected member states.
