Russian Design
A Russian industrial design registration protects the visual appearance of a product within the Russian Federation. It is an effective tool for securing exclusive rights to product aesthetics in the Russian market.
Design protection covers the external features of a product, including shape, contours, colors, texture, and ornamentation, provided the design is new and original. Functional and technical features are excluded from protection.
The application requires design representations, product identification, classification, and applicant details. Several design variants may be included in one application if they form a unified design concept.
The registration procedure generally takes 8 to 12 months. The design is protected for an initial term of 5 years from the filing date, renewable in 5-year periods up to a maximum of 25 years.
